The new and exciting Cirque du Soleil show Saltimbanco has made its way to the United States, and we’ve got a wide selection of tickets for every show.  Below is more information about Cirque du Soleil’s Saltimbanco.

The show
Saltimbanco—from the Italian “saltare in banco,” which literally means “to jump on a bench”—explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people who live there, their idiosyncrasies and likenesses, families and groups, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers. Between whirlwind and lull, prowess and poetry, Saltimbanco takes spectators on an allegorical and acrobatic journey into the heart of the city.

Saltimbanco is a characteristic Cirque du Soleil show inspired by the urban fabric of the metropolis and its colorful inhabitants. Decidedly baroque in its visual vocabulary, the show’s eclectic cast of characters draws spectators into a fanciful, dreamlike world, an imaginary city where diversity is a cause for hope.

The production features 47 artists, about fifteen of whom were part of the show’s last big top tour. The cast hails from Canada and 14 other countries.

An intimate arena setting
Restaging the show for the arena required a number of modifications. The stage on which the artists perform was raised, and the sound and lighting were
adjusted to reflect the venue’s size and the stage’s different position within it. Saltimbanco can now be presented to 4,000 to 5,000 spectators every night with the same feeling of intimacy as under the big top.

Here’s the scoop on the upcoming Mel Brooks play, Young Frankenstein.  Be prepared for some serious Sticker Price! The top ticket price for Friday and Saturday performances at the new Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein will be $450, a new Broadway record.

The New York Times reports that this price will apply to the 100 or so best seats in the house, which are termed “premier” seats. Premium seats, of which there are approximately 120, will be sold for $375. The remaining seats in the orchestra and dress circle will be sold for $120. Seats in the balcony will cost $60-$80.

The New York daily also says that for all other performances, the premium and premier seats will be priced $100 less than the Friday and Saturday rates.

As previously announced, the cast of the Brooks-Thomas Meehan musical will feature Roger Bart (Dr. Frederick Frankenstein), Megan Mullally (Elizabeth), Sutton Foster (Inga), Shuler Hensley (The Monster), Andrea Martin (Frau Blucher), Fred Applegate (Kemp) and Christopher Fitzgerald (Igor), with an ensemble to include Heather Ayers, Jim Borstelmann, Paul Castree, Jen Lee Crowl, Jack Doyle, James Gray, Amy Heggins, Eric Jackson, Kristin Marie Johnson, Renee Feder, Matthew LaBanca, Kevin Ligon, Barrett Martin, Linda Mugleston, Christina Marie Norrup, Justin Patterson, Brian Shepard, Sarrah Strimel, Craig Waletzko and Courtney Young.

The musical based on Brooks’ Academy Award-nominated film comedy has book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, music and lyrics by Brooks, direction and choreography by Susan Stroman.

According to the producers, “Based on the Oscar-nominated smash hit 1974 film, Young Frankenstein is the wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic from the comic genius of Mel Brooks. When Frederick Frankenstein, an esteemed New York brain surgeon and professor, inherits a castle and laboratory in Transylvania from his grandfather, deranged genius Victor Von Frankenstein, he faces a dilemma. Does he continue to run from his family’s tortured past or does he stay in Transylvania to carry on his grandfather’s mad experiments reanimating the dead and, in the process, fall in love with his sexy lab assistant Inga?”

The show is currently getting ready to open at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle this August but word out is the prices for the show will start out in the $300 + price range.  We expect to have available pricing for Young Frankenstein in NYC in the coming days.

With the arrival of a new studio album once again looking likely, iconic goth-rockers The Cure will launch a US tour this summer ahead of the disc’s expected release date.

The band will kick off its 20-date tour Sept. 13 in Tampa, FL. All shows on the arena trek, which will travel up the East Coast before heading to major cities on the west side of the continent, will feature opening support from 65 Days of Static. Information on ticket availability will be made public “soon,” according to The Cure’s website.

The full itinerary is included below.

The Cure has been working since last year on material for the as-yet-untitled new album, according to various sources. Lead singer Robert Smith has told various media outlets that the set, expected to be a double album, would be released variously on Halloween of last year, the singer’s birthday (April 21) and now, according to the group’s record label, in “early October 2007.”

The Cure’s last studio set was an eponymous 2004 release, the band’s 12th full-length album in a career dating back to 1979’s “Three Imaginary Boys.” In December, the group released a concert DVD titled “Festival 2005,” a 30-song video shot during the band’s headlining stints at nine European music festivals in 2005.

The group currently consists of Smith, guitarist Porl Thompson, bassist Simon Gallup and drummer Jason Cooper. Founding member Thompson originally left the band in 1993, returning in 2005 following the departure of keyboardist Roger O’Donnell and keyboardist/guitarist Perry Barmonte.

Veteran rocker Joe Walsh will play US cities from coast to coast on a solo tour that kicks off later this month.

The guitarist/singer/songwriter, known for his powerful guitar licks and off-the-wall lyrics, will start June 27 in Primm, NV, and so far has dates through the end of August. He’ll also make a stop in Rama, Ontario. The itinerary is listed below. On-sale dates can be found at Walsh’s website.

Walsh’s career took off in the early ’70s when he scored two gold albums with his first band, The James Gang, and then embarked on a solo career. In 1976, he was asked to join the Eagles, and they immediately shot to No. 1 with “Hotel California.”

Meanwhile, Walsh continued with his solo work, issuing his biggest pop hit, “Life’s Been Good,” in 1978.

After a 14-year hiatus, the Eagles reunited in 1994 for the highly successful “Hell Freezes Over” tour and live album. Walsh has toured regularly with the band since then and is currently working on a new Eagles album, according to various reports.

Last year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also reunited with The James Gang for a summer/fall tour.

In addition to his bands and solo work, Walsh has recorded with acts including B.B. King, Etta James, Michael McDonald, REO Speedwagon, Ringo Starr and Rod Stewart. His talents can be heard on 150 albums, according to a press release.
